Lean Management is a powerful methodology focused on continuous improvement. It consists of identifying "muda" or waste, which is defined as everything that does not add value for the internal and, above all, external customer, and eliminating it. Waiting times that affect guests, constant breakdowns, quality defects, unnecessary movement of people and materials, warehouses full of materials and perishable products, or overproduction are considered waste and are the targets to be eradicated when working with Lean Management.
At Port Hotels, we are committed to this methodology to improve efficiency and, therefore, the satisfaction of both our internal and external customers. In this first foray into Lean Management, we have focused on the housekeeping and supply departments and have improved our internal procedures with reductions in costs and task completion times. The application of the Lean Management methodology requires the participation of the teams that perform the majority of the processes and who are at the base of a company's hierarchical pyramid. They always know what is happening or what might happen in a hotel, in our case.
