A few years ago, the La Taula restaurant in Elche began a stage aimed at this restless public and a lover of literary novelties, regularly establishing one Friday of each month the Literary Gastro Dinners.
In these evenings, writers are invited to share a debate and dinner with those attending the meeting. A meeting full of flavors with a gastronomic proposal inspired by the work to be discussed: an authentic experience for the five senses.
It is a special meeting in which, in addition to getting closer to the content of his latest book, attendees have the opportunity to get to know the authors more closely; the atmosphere in which the evening takes place is conducive to listening to endless anecdotes that bring us closer to both the novelist and his characters.
The night begins with a welcome cocktail in which you have the first opportunity to meet the writer and this is followed by a dinner, whose menu is dedicated in a particular way to the details of the work with dishes that are inspired by the content of the book and evoke its characters. A special dinner and a good pairing are the ideal ingredient to share opinions and current literary issues, where you can also end up talking about other works by the author or his prose.
But these encounters go further. It is the author himself who wants his readers to know them better. Attendees listen with interest to personal details that never appear on the cover of the book in their hands, some even dare to ask them questions. The most eager to know are prepared with a bookmark to understand the reason for a special chapter.
To date, La Taula restaurant has had the opportunity to develop these dinners with Marta Robles, Dolores Redondo, Manuel Vilas, Nativel Preciado, Paloma Sanchez-Garnica, Santiago Posteguillo and Carmen Mola, among others.
The next appointment will be next Friday, June 10, when Jon Sistiaga will visit us, one of the most relevant investigative journalists in our country who makes his debut as a novelist with a shocking story in his book El Purgatorio.
