Port Hotels, a hotel chain with 11 hotels in Elche, Alicante, Benidorm, Calpe, Dénia and Valencia, renews the Bioscore Certification in all its accommodations. Internationally recognized, the Bioscore Certification evaluates sustainability through compliance with its own standard, which is recognized by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourist Council). This prestigious certification is proof of Port Hotels' commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The Bioscore certification evaluates multiple aspects of sustainability, including energy efficiency, waste management, responsible use of natural resources, and sustainable labor practices. Port Hotels' properties have implemented a series of measures to reduce their environmental impact and promote more responsible tourism.
The Benidorm-based hotel group has worked to integrate sustainable practices into its daily operations across all departments, such as the implementation of presence sensor systems and energy-saving devices, recycling programs and reduction of single-use plastics, installation of drinking water dispensers, processes to minimize food waste, and collaboration with local suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint, among others.
This year, the company has incorporated the calculation of its water footprint into its sustainability standards to optimize resources and reduce environmental impact. Water footprint data is relevant for planning long-term sustainable strategies that ensure the resilience of the establishments against possible water shortages in the future.
