The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation of Alicante has awarded its highest distinction, the Gold and Diamond Medal, to Toni Mayor, President of Port Hotels, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the development of the hotel sector and his tireless advocacy of tourism as an economic and social driving force.
Toni Mayor has dedicated more than 50 years to the tourism industry. Leading Port Hotels, a hotel chain based in Benidorm whose origins date back to the 1960s during the city’s tourism boom, Mayor has spearheaded the company’s growth and expansion. Today, the chain operates 11 hotels across six key destinations in the Valencian Community: Elche, Alicante, Benidorm, Calpe, Dénia, and Valencia.
Toni Mayor’s career goes far beyond business management. For 14 years, he served as President of HOSBEC, the Hotel and Tourism Business Association of the Valencian Community, where he worked relentlessly to defend and strengthen the tourism interests of Alicante Province. His leadership has been instrumental in establishing Benidorm as a leading international tourism destination, always prioritizing innovation, sustainability, and excellence. As he himself has expressed, “The development and transformation of cities like Benidorm cannot be discussed without recognizing the role of hotels as catalysts for change.”
This recognition not only symbolizes his commitment to the hotel industry but also highlights his efforts to promote fundamental values such as business cooperation and sustainable growth. It serves as a reminder of the positive impact that strong leadership can have on an entire region.
