The Port Hotels group, with 11 assets in the Valencian Community, has acquired from Ciudadela de Inversiones the company that owns and operates the
Edificio Hispania. Thus, Port Hotels becomes the owner of one of the most iconic buildings in the city of Alicante, incorporating this 10-story office building with 9,000 m2 and 156 parking spaces into its portfolio of corporate assets.
The Edificio Hispania joins other prominent Port Hotels investments, such as the project located opposite Valencia's Central Park. Both operations consolidate a growth line based on the selection of strategic assets in evolving destinations, capable of generating long-term value.
“This acquisition reflects our desire to anticipate the opportunities offered by the market and to invest in assets with exceptional structural and strategic value. Alicante is a dynamic city with strong business and tourism projection, and we want to continue being an active part of its growth,” stated Toni Mayor, president of Port Hotels.
Currently, Port Hotels operates in Alicante through Port Alicante, completely renovated in 2022 and positioned as one of the city's benchmark accommodations.
The sale of the Edificio Hispania represents a very significant milestone for the city of Alicante and for Ciudadela de Inversiones: “after several years of active management of the property, we culminate a successful divestment that reflects our ability to reposition assets and generate value in a sustained manner,” comments Alfredo Fluixá, manager at Ciudadela Inversiones.
“In these years, we have shown that rigorous and patient management allows complex assets to be transformed into real opportunities for new operators. The entry of Port Hotels confirms the building's potential. Looking ahead, we will maintain our firm strategy of investing in the Valencian Community and in segments such as offices, retail spaces, living, and hotels. As a family group with a heritage-focused approach, we remain committed to identifying strategic locations and promoting projects that provide added value and a positive impact on the environment,” concludes Fluixá.
The consultancy firm Colliers, as advisor to the operation, highlights the opportunity that is opening up for the office market in the city of Alicante and the need to promote new developments and rehabilitations that allow this demand to be absorbed with modern, efficient, and competitive spaces.
In the words of Rafael Paz, director of Colliers in the Valencian Community: “Alicante has a real opportunity to consolidate a new-generation office park that accompanies business growth and reinforces its attractiveness as an economic hub. The city is experiencing a moment of great dynamism in the office market. More and more companies are choosing Alicante to set up or expand their operations, and we are detecting a growing demand for spaces exceeding 1,000 m², a product that is currently very scarce.”
