Hotel Huerto del Cura, finalist for the Best Hotel Breakfast Award 2026 at Madrid Fusión
15/12/2025
Hotel Huerto del Cura
Hotel Huerto del Cura has been selected as a finalist in the Grand Hotel category of the Best Hotel Breakfast Award 2026, a distinction promoted by Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España that recognises the most outstanding breakfast offerings in the Spanish hotel landscape.
The Elche-based hotel is among the five shortlisted establishments in this year’s edition thanks to a breakfast concept conceived as a gastronomic experience in its own right. The proposal elevates one of the most important moments of the guest stay and reinforces the hotel’s commitment to quality, local produce and excellence. The breakfast offering also adapts to seasonality through special editions, such as the current Winter Breakfast.
Hotel Huerto del Cura’s candidacy stands out for several distinctive elements: its unique location in the heart of the Palmeral of Elche, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the breakfast concept created by master pastry chef Fran Segura, recognised with awards including Best Dessert in Spain (2013), Silver Medal at the Pastry World Cup (2022) and inclusion among the three best chocolate cakes in the world (2024); and a carefully curated selection of locally sourced ingredients such as dates, carob, regional cured meats and cheeses, as well as seasonal juices and speciality coffee.
Served à la carte in a staged tasting format, the breakfast is structured in three acts: Le Réveil, Le Marché and Le Gourmand. These combine sweet and savoury creations, artisan breads, laminated pastries and dishes prepared to order, transforming the first experience of the day into a high-level gastronomic proposal.
“The selection of Hotel Huerto del Cura’s breakfast among the best in Spain reinforces a conviction we have held from the very beginning: gastronomy is an essential part of the guest experience. This recognition highlights a proposal created with identity, local produce and a clear vocation for excellence, in a setting as singular as the Palmeral of Elche,” said Ana Mayor, Vice President of Port Hotels.
For his part, pastry chef Fran Segura described the selection as “a motivation to continue exploring how haute pâtisserie and the identity of the territory can coexist in an everyday experience such as breakfast, without losing closeness or authenticity”.
The winners of the Best Hotel Breakfast Award 2026 will be announced during the next edition of Madrid Fusión, to be held on 26, 27 and 28 January 2026, on the Madrid Fusión Pastry stage.
With this nomination, Hotel Huerto del Cura strengthens its positioning as a gastronomic and hospitality benchmark in the Valencian Community, consolidating a concept that brings together setting, product, culinary authorship and experience.
